Old Colony Lodge A.F. & A.M.

...the oldest child of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts...

"The BeeHive - Future"

"Thank You' so much to all who lent a hand during the Summer of 2007.  It had been years since Old Colony undertook such a major reconstruction project…a project that was well overdue.  While Laboring; we uncovered many unexpected items that required immediate attention from both a practical a liability standpoint. Thanks to the never-ending generosity of our Most-excellent Past Master - R.W. William Wirkala, we were able to commence this arduous undertaking… The Building Committee wishes Bill were still with us to enjoy the blessings of his beneficence, but we know he is smiling down on Old Colony from the Celestial Lodge above.  Due to some 'surprises' as we moved forward our capital was depleted and we are in a deficit situation.  Thank you to those who have answered the call by making an additional contribution with your dues payment this year, every penny counts!  By November we should be all wrapped-up and be prepared to present a final report on this project including all costs.  Please join us during 'Fellowship' period prior to our meeting and ask any Building Committee Member to 'show you around' the Temple.

A budget for the 2008 reconstruction plan will be submitted this winter. We can not move forward unless we have a capital commitment.  If you like what we have done thus far, let us know.  If you can help make Old Colony the place it needs it be, let us know!

Respectfully & Fraternally, 'Your Building Committee'

The weather is not so good...but that doesn't stop the 'BeeHive'!  A Big Thank You to everyone who has picked up a hammer or brush the past few weeks.  A firewall is now in place in the boiler room (we're up to code now Wor. Dave!).  The dart board is back up, any challangers?  The Back Room is gutted and ready to begin a new life - Closests for the tenets, handicaped bathroom, ramp and elevator systems.

Over the next few weeks we will put a final coat of Paint on Wirkala Hall and install the cove base around the room.  The Summer class has kept us for our labor but we'll be getting right to it.  FINALLY, the engineers have finished-up with our property line to the satisfaction of all!(?)  This will allow the Landscape design to come together which will then determine the back parking lot and walkways.  Brothers, we WILL be working so answer the call...yes if the phone rings it will be me!
